I remember 25 years ago Thanksgiving Day, I had an assignment for documenting the owner of an African restaurant who gave several hundred meals to the homeless people in the street. I was very shocked there were so many people who have no place to sleep and no meal to eat on Thanksgiving Day. I saw the owner woke up those homeless people who slept under the bridges and passed out meals to many who walked around the street on a very cold winter day.
The owner told me they gave meals away on Thanksgiving Day for many years. They came from Africa to U.S. 20 years ago and opened their own restaurant. Former President Clinton used to eat their meal at The Taste of Chicago. I saw the many pictures at their restaurant.
I think we are really blessed compared to those homeless people. We have a place to sleep and have good meals to eat every day. We even have cameras so we can take pictures every day and enjoy our life. We are really thankful for what we have today!
