This is an old story of mine and I told it again before we had Thanksgiving dinner.
I remember one Thanksgiving 24 years ago, I was assigned a task to document an African restaurant owner serving hundreds of meals to homeless people on the street. I was shocked that so many people had no place to sleep or food to eat on Thanksgiving. I saw the owner waking up homeless people sleeping under bridges and handing out food to many people walking on the street on a cold winter day.
The owner told me that they have been providing free meals on Thanksgiving for many years. They came to the United States from Africa 30 years ago and opened their own restaurant. Former President Clinton once dined at the Chicago Taste Festival. I saw many photos of them in their restaurant.
I think we are really lucky than those homeless people. We have a place to sleep and delicious meals every day. We even have cameras so we can take pictures every day and enjoy life. We are really grateful for everything we have today!
